CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team swept No. 5 seed Maryville in the Independent Volleyball Association Tournament semifinals (25-15, 25-16, 25-15) on Friday night at the Levine Center. The win improved the No. 1 seed Railsplitters to 21-4 on the year and advanced them to the final against No. 2 seed Queens.
Set 1: Lincoln Memorial 25-15
A 4-0 scoring run by Lincoln Memorial midway through the set featuring kills by
Matthew Gentry and
Shay Spadaro would put the Railsplitters up 16-8, and they would lead by at least seven points the rest of the way, clinching the set on a
Will Eiken termination.
Cole Campisano's five kills paced the Lincoln Memorial offense in the first frame.
Set 2: Lincoln Memorial 25-16
An 8-1 run highlighted by four Campisano kills and three from
Justin Sharfenaker turned a 14-12 Railsplitter edge into a 22-13 lead, and they would cruise to the win. Sharfenaker led Lincoln Memorial with seven kills in the second set.
Set 3: Lincoln Memorial 25-15
Down 7-6, Lincoln Memorial went on a 9-1 rally to gain a 15-8 lead, and it would clinch the set and match on a
Shay Spadaro spike.
Kohl Kutsch and
Ethan Morgan had four kills each in the final frame.
