JEFFERSON CITY, TENN.- In the first game of their Sunday doubleheader against Carson-Newman, Lincoln Memorial would fall in extra innings to the Eagles.Â
Carson Newman would strike first in the game with a score in the bottom of the first inning.
Andrew Keene would answer for the Railsplitters with a home run in the top of the second to even the score. A single from
Kasten Harvey in the top of the fourth would give LMU the lead. However, the Eagles would tie the score up at two all in the bottom of the sixth to end scoring in regulation innings.Â
In the top of the tenth,
Carson Boles would cross the plate for the second time of the day thanks to a
Cameron Powser single to put Lincoln Memorial up 3-2. Carson-Newman would match the score again, forcing the game into an eleventh inning. The Eagles would prevail with a score in the bottom of the inning to take the series over the Railsplitters.
The second game of the doubleheader would last only seven innings, but Carson-Newman would take advantage early by scoring a run in the second and adding three more in the bottom of the third. Runs batted in by
Kasten Harvey and
Chris Hall would shrink the Eagle lead to 4-2 in the top of the fourth.
Jared Hancock would cross the plate in the top of the fifth inning as well, but that would end the scoring on the day, leaving the Railsplitters just short of the comeback.Â
Lincoln Memorial falls to 19-13 on the season and 6-9 in SAC play. Lincoln Memorial will be back at Lamar Hennon Field in Harrogate on Friday, April 7th, at 6 PM for the opening game of their series against Coker.
