@LMUbaseball Takes Opener over Coker

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team beat Coker 5-2 on Friday night at Lamar Hennon Field to take the opener of the South Atlantic Conference series.

The Railsplitters (20-13, 7-9 SAC) used a strong pitching performance by starter Patrick Queener to keep the Cobras (14-27, 5-14) scoreless through the first 6 innings, during which the offense put 5 runs on the board to cruise to victory.

A Collin Goda fielder's choice plated Andrew Keene in the 2nd inning to get the scoring started before Keene was hit by a pitch in the 5th with the bases loaded to force in Mitch Petzelt and extend the hosts' lead to 2-0. RBI doubles by Goda and Cameron Bowen highlighted a 3-run 6th inning for the Railsplitters.

Queener tossed 7.0 innings of 2-run ball, allowing 4 hits and striking out 5 to improve to 3-3 on the mound this season. Colin Murphy struck out the side in a scoreless 8th before David Brian Ellison pitched a perfect 9th inning to collect save No. 6 for him on the season.

Lincoln Memorial and Coker are scheduled to conclude the series in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
