Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team won a hard fought match against SAC foe, Limestone, 3-0. This was the Lady Railsplitters first SAC win this year and it was done with a lot of hard play, team fortitude, and determination when they needed it. This puts LMU at 7-7 for the season and 1-3 in the SAC.
Coach Phillips said, "Our women played up-tempo with energy and effort, and they executed our blocking scheme well."
Set 1: Lincoln Memorial 27-25
The first set started with LMU down most of the match, but caught Limestone at 22-22 after being behind 20-14, with a block by
Kristen Moehring to start the rally. A couple aces by
Amanda Lisi to tie the score and a kill by
Katherine Bedel moved LMU up by one. After going back and forth,
Olivia Snyder had a service ace and
Ketura Margaret had a kill to win set 1, 27-25.
Set 2: Lincoln Memorial 25-16
The second set started with both teams trading points and keeping it close. At 5-5, the Lady Railsplitters pulled ahead with solid attacks by
Sierrah Lemons getting four kills in a 9-1 run. The Saint tried to keep up but could not muster enough to come back. LMU closed out the match with kills by
Katie Cardenas and
Ketura Margaret, 25-16.
Set 3: Lincoln Memorial 30-28
After the intermission, Limestone started strong by taking a five-point lead at 8-3. LMU closed the gap to keep close and eventually caught the Saints at 20-20 on a kill by Margaret. Both teams traded leads to the end when a Limestone service error tied the set at 28-28, then a kill by Margaret and an attack error by the Saints ended the match, 30-28.
