Harrogate, TN- The Lincoln Memorial Track and Field team is gearing up for a big weekend of competition at the Emory Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. The team, fresh off winter break, looks primed and ready to go for another successful competition.
This meet kickstarts the Railsplitter's indoor season as they will compete in five back-to-back weekend meets up until the SAC Championships.
Both the Women's and Men's track teams will travel to Birmingham, Alabama this weekend to compete in the Emory CrossPlex Showdown. The meet is hosted by Emory University, a division III school in Atlanta. However, the meet will feature some of the top teams in the South, including the University of Alabama in Huntsville, the University of Montevallo, and other Division I/II programs. In several events, the Railsplitters will go after top-tier marks and potentially make strides to qualify for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The doors open at 8:00 am, and field events begin at 9:30 with the men's weight throw where Nathan McBride and Hank Fisher will be competing. Following with women's weight throw, where Kylee Alvis, Nevaeh Kerns, and Cate Turner will compete against some high competitors. The trio will also be competing in the shot-put event shortly after at 1:00 pm. Maggie Sanderson will be making her debut of the season in the women's long jump at 10:00 am and high jump at 3:30.
Sterling Webb, who has broken several records within just two meets of being a Railsplitter, will compete in the 60m hurdles and women's high jump. Spencer Baldwin will represent the Railsplitters in the mile event while Jacey Grabeel, Hunter Preston, and Patrick Zuralski will compete in the men's 600m.
