Jefferson City, TN - The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team shuts out Carson-Newman 1-0 Wednesday evening for their third SAC win of the season.
Neither team was able to score in the first alf, but Lincoln Memorial was quick to put a goal on the board in the second half to give them the lead. Not even a minute into the second half,
Ryan Branson chipped the ball over Carson-Newman's goalkeeper from a pass from
Viktoria Filsner to give LMU the lead 1-0. Even with the Eagles having some good opportunities late in the half to equalize the score, the Lady Railsplitters were able to keep Carson-Newman off of the board to secure the win 1-0.
Lincoln Memorial pulled through offensively and defensively as they had 14 shots, 8 of which were on goal, but only allowed one shot on goal the entire game.
With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 5-4-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the SAC. For their next match, they will face Mars Hill in Mars Hill, NC on Sunday, October 20th. Kick off is set for 3:30 pm.
