Wise, VA- Women's volleyball took down UVA Wise tonight on the road in five sets: 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 20-25, 15-9.
LMU would begin the first set fighting from behind, a mid-set run would even up the score at 14-14 and stay nearly even until the Splitters would earn four straight points to take the set. Lincoln Memorial would struggle to find an offensive rhythm in the second but would continue to stay close thanks to several Wise errors before eventually dropping the set. The back-and-forth would continue in the third, the frame featuring eight ties and two lead changes, Lincoln Memorial regaining the overall lead. Wise would put the pressure back on, improving their attack and forcing a fifth. A quick lead paired with a .458 set hit percentage would be the push needed to give the Splitters the win.
Three Splitters would put on an impressive performance at attack as
Kristen Moehring,
Abigail Kesler, and
Agata Bogdanska would all earn 15 kills apiece on the night.
Lauren Pickett and
Braylynn Humphrey would also do their part, each posting three aces on the game. Additionally, Pickett would also add six total blocks and 45 assists to her stat line.Â
LMU moves to 12-5 on the season, 6-4 in conference action. They'll return to the court on Friday, October 18th, to take on Newberry at home in Mary Mars Gymnasium.Â
