Belmont, NC - The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team fall to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey Wednesday afternoon 45-49.
In the first quarter, Belmont Abbey outscored LMU 8-14, but the Lady Railsplitters dominated the offensive boards with 6 offensive rebounds compared to the Crusaders' 2 rebounds. In the second, Lincoln Memorial improved offensively, going from shooting 15.4% from the field in the first quarter to 45.5%, but Belmont Abbey still outscored LMU 13-17. The score going into halftime was 21-31 with Belmont Abbey leading.Â
In the third quarter, Lincoln Memorial stepped it up offensively as they outscored Belmont Abbey 19-7, scoring more than double the Crusaders did. The Lady Railsplitters also out-rebounded Belmont Abbey, with LMU recording 12 rebounds and Belmont Abbey only posting 4. Belmont Abbey regained their stride and outscored LMU 5-11 in the fourth, giving the Crusaders the win 45-49.
Kamil Collier posted a double-double on the day, recording 14 points and 12 rebounds.Â
Alexa Smiddy also scored double digits, as she scored 11 points and posted 4 rebounds.Â
Lexi Patty registered 4 points, 9 rebounds, and a team-high 4 assists.Â
Matty Tanner had 8 points and 3 assists.Â

LMU went 16-48 from the field and 8-27 from the 3-point line. LMU went 83% from the free-throw line and Lincoln Memorial out-rebounded Belmont Abbey 32-21.
With the loss, the Lady Railsplitters move to 1-2 on the season.Â
This was the last non-conference game of the season. Their next game will be their home opener against Newberry on Saturday, November 23rd with a start time of 12 pm.Â
