Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team defeats the Newberry Wolves in their home opener Saturday afternoon 62-53.
In the first quarter, the scoring was pretty even as LMU only outscored Newberry by 2 points, 18-16. Lincoln Memorial out-rebounded the Wolves in the 1st quarter as well 9-7. In the second, Lincoln Memorial almost doubled the amount of points that Newberry scored, 14-8. Newberry had 9 turnovers this quarter compared to LMU's 4. The score going into the half was 32-24.Â
In the third, Newberry found their offensive ground and won the third quarter in points, 12-17, with the score being 44-41 going into the fourth. In the fourth, LMU dominated the quarter in all aspects, outscoring the Wolves 18-12 and out-rebounding 13-9. LMU ended the game victorious with the final score being 62-53.Â
Matty Tanner led the game in points with 15 points and 3 rebounds.Â

Kamil Collier both ended the game with 12 points, but Collier had 8 rebounds and a team-high 5 assists and Barr had 4.Â

LMU went 43.7% from the field and 40% from the three. The Lady Railsplitters went 12-25 from the free throw line and out-rebounded the Wolves 31-29.Â
The Lady Railsplitters improve tro 2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.Â
For their next game, they will travel to Mars Hill, NC to face Mars Hill on Tuesday. November 26th at 5:30 pm.Â
