Lady Railspliters Fall To Newberry in Double Overtime

Newberry, SC - The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters fall to the Newberry Wolves Saturday afternoon in double overtime 49-61. 

The first quarter was the highest scoring quarter for Lincoln Memorial, with LMU scoring 17 to Newberry's 13. In the second quarter, the Lady Railsplitters 
just barely outscore the Wolves 11-10. Going into halftime, the score is 28-23, and Lincoln Memorial has out rebounded Newberry 14-12.

The third quarter would be where the Wolves catch up. In the third, Newberry outscored Lincoln Memorial 6-13, which makes the score going into the fourth 34-36. In the fourth, LMU scored two more points than Newberry, 8-6, which makes the score 42-42 at the end of regulation.

In overtime, both teams score 6 points, which brings the game into double overtime. The next 5 minutes of double overtime would be where the Wolves secure the win, outscoring the Lady Railsplitters 1-13, which brings the final score 49-61. 

Kamil Collier had a double-double, scoring 12 points and registering 15 rebounds, along with leading the team in assists with 5. Alexa Smiddy scored double-figures in the game with a team-high 20 points. Matty Tanner recorded 9 points, and Caroline Sikkink registered 8 points, 7 rebounds, and a team-high 8 steals. Asia Barr posted 2 rebounds, and Dominique Rodriguez and Jamyah Winter each recorded 1. 

Lincoln Memorial went 17-57 from the field and 6-20 from the three. They scored 81.8% from the three-throw line and out rebounded the Wolves 38-36. 

With the loss, the Lady Railsplitters move to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. 

For their next game, they will host Tusculum on December 18th at 5:30 pm in Tex Turner Arena.
