Harrogate, TN- Railsplitters win. Not a new headline, but still never gets old. Lincoln Memorial would use a huge second half to earn the win tonight against Mars Hill by a score of 84-64. The victory helps LMU to 17-6 on the season, 11-3 in conference play.
Mars Hill would come out swinging in the first half, shooting over 50% from the field and over 40% from three-point range in the frame. While Lincoln Memorial would struggle to find the bottom of the net, it seemed like Mars Hill hit everything at the right times. Despite the offensive struggles, the team would continue to keep the game close, finding other ways to score such as putback buckets and transition scores.Â
The second half would be a different story. After several key defensive stops,
Chase Rankin would find
Wes Enis for a three to give the Railsplitters back the lead with a little over 16 minutes left to play.
Martez Brown would keep yet another offensive possession alive within the next minute, giving the team the lead to be held throughout the rest of the game. Despite the fight from Mars Hill still making key shots, LMU would finally find a scoring rhythm, shooting 78% from the field and 81% from the charity stripe in the half. Lincoln Memorial doubled the scoring effort of Mars Hill in the last segment, giving the team the push needed to walk away with the victory.
Martez Brown was a perfect 11 for 11 on the night, adding yet another double-double to his season through his 24 points, 13 rebounds.
Chase Rankin would also add his own impressive stat line of 19 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. 16 points from West Enis and 10 points through
Jay Boyd (including a perfect 8-8 from the line)Â would also prove to be essential to the win.
