Men's lacrosse falls to North Greenville

Harrogate, TN - After falling in a neutral site game to the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers in torrential rains on Saturday, the Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team was back in action at home on Wednesday, hosting the North Greenville Crusaders. The Railsplitters entered the game with a 2-1 record, looking to avoid dropping back-to-back games early in the season. The Crusaders were coming off of an upset victory over 20th-ranked Anderson.

Lincoln Memorial tallied the game's first goal as Gavin Reid connected on a goal with 13:21 remaining in the opening stanza to give the Railsplitters a quick 1-0 lead. North Greenville responded with five straight goals, seizing the game's momentum as well as a 5-1 lead with 5:57 remaining in the first quarter. The Railsplitters refused to lay over as Daniel Pearl netted their second goal of the game with 3:22 remaining in the first., bringing the score back to 5-2. The Crusaders added another goal just 15-seconds later to extend their lead to 6-2 before Pearl cut the margin back to three with another unassisted goal in the waning seconds of the first quarter, leaving the score sitting at 6-3 at the first horn.

It was another promising start to the period in the first few minutes of the second as Lincoln Memorial struck first with a goal from Quinn Hepler, assisted by Rhodes Conroy, bringing the score to 6-4. From there, the game belonged completely to North Greenville, rattling off 10 unanswered goals to take a commanding 14-4 lead as the offensive flurry bled from the second to third quarter. The Railsplitters continued to fight, adding goals from Conroy and Reid to start the fourth quarter, with Hepler assisting Reid, bringing the score to 14-6 with 9:54 remaining in the final frame. The Crusaders and Railsplitters added a pair of goals each for the remainder of the game, with Conroy scoring assisted by Pearl, and Francis O'Hara assisted by Jordan Castro, seeing North Greenville secure a 16-8 victory in Harrogate.

With the loss, Lincoln Memorial moved to 2-2 on the season and will be back on the field on the road at Emmanuel on Saturday Feb. 17 at 2:00 PM.
