Harrogate, TN - After winning three straight games, the Lincoln Memorial Lady Splitters were seeking to extend their winning streak to four games, playing host to the Wingate Lady Bulldogs on Saturday. Earlier in the season, Lincoln Memorial took a 68-62 decision on the road in Wingate, NC. Saturday's game was much like the two team's first meeting, and went down-to-the-wire.
The Lady Splitters got off to a good start, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 16-12 in the first period. The second quarter was a deadlock, with each team netting 16 points to close the first half, allowing Lincoln Memorial to maintain a four point advantage at the intermission, 32-28. As play resumed in the third, the Lady Splitters extended their lead to five points, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 20-19 in the period to take a 42-37 advantage into the final frame. Wingate refused to go quietly, fighting back with fervor in the fourth quarter. Lincoln Memorial had trouble finding offense to finish the game as Wingate poured on 22 points in the fourth quarter, its most successful offensive period of the game. Outscoring the Lady Splitters 22-9 in the fourth, the Lady Bulldogs were able to battle back and secure a 69-61 victory in Harrogate.
Lincoln Memorial was led in scoring by
Lauren Flowers with 24 points. She also added nine rebounds to lead the team in rebounding as well. She was followed by
Jordan Maney with 11 points and four rebounds,
Geovana Rios with 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists,
Zyan Smith,
Alexa Smiddy, and
Matty Tanner with five points each, and
Chloe Savage with one point to round out scoring for the Lady Spltters.
Lincoln Memorial will take to the road for three straight contests, beginning with Tusculum on Feb. 21, before rounding out the regular season at home against Limestone on Mar. 2.Â
