Anderson, SC - Five days after falling to Coker by one point on the road, the Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team was back at work on Wednesday night in Anderson, SC, taking on the Trojans. Lincoln Memorial entered the game with a 3-5 record overall, with an 0-2 mark in conference play. Anderson was 2-4 prior to the contest with an 0-1 mark in conference play on the season.
The Trojans struck first, scoring two goals in the first four and a half minutes to take an early 2-0 lead. Lincoln Memorial responded with a goal from
Francis O'Hara, cutting the deficit to one, 2-1. The Railsplitters outscored the Trojans 3-2 over the course of the next 15 minutes to knot the game at 4-4.
Gavin Reid scored Lincoln Memorial's second goal unassisted. Following an Anderson goal,
Daniel Pearl netted his first goal of the game unassisted.
Michael Rogers then knotted the game at 4-4 with an assist from
Rhodes Conroy with 5:11 remaining in the first half. The Trojans added two more goals before the halftime horn to take a 6-4 lead into the halftime intermission.
Lincoln Memorial came out with the pedal to the metal to start the second half, tying the game at 6-6. Conroy netted his first goal of the game with an assist from Reid, and
Cole Morris netted an absolutely
filthy behind-the-back goal with an assist from O'Hara to tie the game at 6-6 with 11:09 remaining in the third. Anderson flipped a switch, scoring the game's next four goals, taking its largest lead of the game 10-6. However, Lincoln Memorial refused to lay over, drawing back to within a single point, 10-9, with 11:09 on the clock on the heels of three straight goals. Morris tallied his second goal of the game before Conroy added his second goal on the assist from Reid to bring the score to 10-8. Conroy then tallied his hat trick less than one minute later, scoring unassisted, bringing the score to 10-9. The Trojans extended their lead to 12-9 with back-to-back goals in a :30-second span, leaving 7:52 on the clock. However, the only goal that would be scored for the remainder of the game came from Anderson, taking a 13-9 lead with 2:41 remaining, leaving the score to rest at its final.
Rhodes Conroy led the charge for Lincoln Memorial, tallying three goals and an assist. He was followed by
Cole Morris with two goals.
Gavin Reid added a goal and two assists.
Francis O'Hara added one goal and an assist.
Daniel Pearl and
Michael Rogers added one goal each to round out scoring for the Railsplitters.
