Anderson, SC - The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team took to Anderson, SC on Wednesday afternoon for a conference match up with the Lady Trojans on the road. The Lady Splitters were coming off of a 20-3 drubbing of Mars Hill with a 2-6 overall record, including a 1-1 mark in conference play.
Anderson wasted no time in taking control of the game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Lincoln Memorial answered with back-to-back goals.
Chandler Bell scored on an assist from
Amber Kirkpatrick for the first goal, and
Josie Tinnerello scored unassisted on a man-advantage just moments into the second quarter. However, the Lady Trojans rattled off seven straight goals to take a commanding 13-2 lead into the halftime intermission.
Anderson came out firing in the second half, scoring the first two goals of the third quarter. Lincoln Memorial answered with a run of its own as Bell and Kirkpatrick hooked up for the second time during the game, cutting the deficit to 12, 15-3. The Lady Trojans responded with back-to-back goals to extend their lead to 17-3, but Kirkpatrick and Bell made a third connection for a goal, this time with Kirkpatrick on he goal, and Bell on the assist. It would cut the score to 17-4 heading into the final frame of action. Anderson would add three more goals in the fourth quarter, while holding Lincoln Memorial scoreless to secure a 20-4 victory.
With the loss, the Lady Splitters move to 2-7 on the season with a 1-2 mark in conference play. Next up, it's a road stand against the Lenoir-Rhyne Lady Bears on March 16th at 1:00 PM.
