Quincy, IL- Lincoln Memorial concluded their road trip tonight after traveling to St. Charles, MO and Quincy, IL to take on Lindenwood and Quincy on Friday, March 1st, and Saturday, March 2nd. The team split games, falling to Lindenwood 1-3 and sweeping Quincy 3-0, moving to 11-4 on the season.
Lindenwood would show why they are still receiving Top 20 votes in their matchup against the Railsplitters. The Lions would outhit the Splitters .366 to .306 in the matchup, finishing the match in four.
Griffin Wheatley would lead LMU in kills on the day, earning 15 in the match.
Johan Negron and
Luigi Pacini would also post double-digit kills, Pacini adding three aces to his stat line as well. The 17 errors from the team would be too much to overcome, however, with final set scores of 22-25, 25-23, 17-25, and 18-25.
LMU would turn it around for their matchup against Quincy. The Splitters would win the hitting percentage battle this time, with Wheatley once again leading the team in kills. His nine kills would go alongside four aces on the day.
Ethan Morgan would also contribute with four blocks while setter
Kohl Kutsch would provide the stability needed from his 35 assists to aid the Railsplitters in their 25-16, 27-25, 25-23 win.
Lincoln Memorial will return to Mary Mars Gymnasium in Harrogate for their next match, facing off against the University of Mount Olive on Saturday, March 9th, at 3 PM.Â
