Mars Hill, NC- Lincoln Memorial softball fell on the road today to Mars Hill in their midweek doubleheader. Mars Hill would put on an offensive showing, one that the Railsplitters found themselves having to match for much of the day.Â
The first game would have the Mountain Lions striking first, taking an early 5-0 lead. The momentum kept rolling for Mars Hill, extending the lead to nine through four innings. LMU would find themselves forced to score in the fifth to extend the game.
Sterre den Duijn,
Katie Tuggle, and
Madison Henry all would help answer the call, each earning an RBI to put up three runs in the frame. Mars Hill would answer with two runs of their own, however, ending the game with a final score of 11-3.Â
The second game would be an offensive showdown. The back-and-forth contest would end in a final score of 22-23 favoring Mars Hill. Six Lady Splitters would have multi-hit games:

Madison Henry (2),
Nicole Couvertiere (3), and
Gracie Palmer (3). One feature sequence would take place in the top of the third, where
Katy Pozzuto and
Katie Tuggle would step up to hit back-to-back homers.
Sterre den Duijn's impressive day on offense would include a grand slam over the center field wall in the top of the sixth, part of her six RBIs on the day.Â
LMU falls to 17-15 (4-4) on the season and will return to action on Saturday, March 23rd, for a 1 PM/3 PM doubleheader with Catawba.
