Harrogate, TN - After claiming game one against Tusculum on Friday, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team fell in both games of the Saturday double-header. With the losses, Lincoln Memorial moved to 19-10 overall with an 11-7 record in conference play.
In game two, things got ugly early for the Railsplitters. Tusculum rattled off six runs in the top of the second inning, taking a 6-0 lead. From the third inning to the sixth inning, both teams failed to find any success on the sticks. However, the Pioneers extended their lead to 9-0 in the top of the seventh. In game two, it was an absolute dog fight, going down-to-the-wire. To start the game, it appeared that Tusculum was on pace to match its runs total from the first inning of the first game of the double header. The Pioneers managed two runs in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead. Lincoln Memorial failed to add any runs in the bottom of the inning. The Pioneers added another run in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead before the Railsplitters tallied their first run of the game as
Deatric Alexander Jr. singled, driving in
Joey LaMattina to cut the deficit to 3-1. Lincoln Memorial held Tusculum scoreless from the third through the fifth inning, adding one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Mast connected on a solo shot in the fourth and
Carson Boles connected on a solo shot in the fifth, tying the game 3-3. Each team added one run in the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Boles drove in Kowalski to tie the game at 5-5. Tusculum added a run in the seventh inning on a solo shot, taking a 5-4 lead. Lincoln Memorial failed to answer in the seventh, falling by a final of 5-4.
