Salisbury, NC - One week after dropping two of three games to Tusculum, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team took to the road seeking to bounce back against the Catawba Indians. With back-to-back series against Tusculum and Catawba, the Railsplitters have now played the top two teams in the conference in back-to-back weekends. After dropping game one on Friday, Lincoln Memorial fell 7-5 and 8-7, seeing Catawba complete the sweep. With the losses, the Railsplitters moved to 19-13 on the season with an 11-10 mark in conference play and are now on a five game skid.
Game two of the series saw the home standing Indians jump out to a 2-0 lead by the third inning. In the top of the fourth inning,
Collin Goda was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing
Kasten Harvey to round home for the first Railsplitter run of the game, cutting the score to 2-1. However, a three run fourth inning from Catawba saw the Indians take a 5-1 lead. Lincoln Memorial fought back by adding two runs in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 5-3.
Ryan Kurth drove in
Cameron Bowen with a single, and Deatric Alexander drove in Goda with a sac-fly. The Indians added two more runs in the eighth inning to extend the lead back out to 7-3. The Railsplitters added two runs in the top of the ninth, falling just short of tying the game.
Carson Boles drove in
Alex Kowalski and
Kevin Fernandez, cementing the score at its final, 7-5.

Game three had a different feel, as Lincoln Memorial came out fast in the first inning, exceeding the run total of any inning of game two. Boles connected on a homer to get things started, driving in Harvey to give the Railsplitters a quick 2-0 lead. Kurth then drove in Goda, extending the Lincoln Memorial lead to 3-0. The Indians answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to one run, 3-2. However, a three run second inning propelled Catawba in front for the first time of the game 5-3. Goda drove in Boles in the third to cut the deficit to one run, 5-4. The Indians responded once again with a triple, regaining a two run lead, 6-4. After holding Lincoln Memorial scoreless in the top of the fourth, Catawba added to its run total, driving in a pair, taking an 8-4 lead. It was the final runs for the Indians in the game. The Railsplitters refused to lay over, fighting back in the latter portion of the game with three runs spanning the fifth and sixth inning. Kowalski connected on a rocket, driving in Boles to cut the deficit to 8-6. In the sixth inning, Bowen scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to just one run heading into the final frame, 8-7. Lincoln Memorial was unable to find a run in the top of the seventh, seeing Catawba sweep the series 3-0, securing a 8-7 win in the third and final game.
