Emory, VA - Riding a five game losing streak, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team was seeking to get back on track against the hosting Emory & Henry Wasps. With the first game of the three game series moved from Friday to Sunday, Saturday was the first glimpse of the Wasps for the Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial entered the first game with a 19-13 record overall, including an 11-10 mark in conference play. Emory & Henry entered the game at the rear of the conference with a 7-28 overall record, including a 4-18 mark in conference play.
Game one was exactly what Lincoln Memorial needed. After erupting for over 70 runs in seven games earlier in the season, the Railsplitter offense had been stifled. The Railsplitters and Wasps used the first inning as a wake up inning, holding each other scoreless. However, it appeared that Emory & Henry hit the snooze button as the Railsplitters began to pour on runs beginning in the second inning.

Alex Kowalski and
Cameron Bowen for a quick 2-0 lead. Kurth then rounded home on an error by Emory & Henry as

The Wasps found their way on the board in the bottom of the inning with a two run homer of their own. The teams held each other scoreless in the fifth inning before a huge sixth inning from both teams. In the top of the sixth,
Carson Boles blasted a three run shot to center field, driving in Harvey and
Collin Goda, giving Lincoln Memorial a commanding 10-2 lead. Emory & Henry's bats got hot in the sixth inning, driving in four runs to cut the deficit to 10-6. However, the Wasps would fail to convert another run throughout the remainder of the game. Mast connected on a sac-fly in the top of the seventh to drive in
Deatric Alexander Jr. Boles added to his run total in the eighth, driving in Harvey and Goda for the second time of the game, tallying his fifth RBI of the game. Kurth then drove in Boles on a sac-fly to extend the Lincoln Memorial lead to 14-6 headed into the final frame. Boles connected on another double in the ninth inning, driving in
