Splitters Axe Cobras in Saturday Softball

Harrogate, TN- LMU softball took both games on Saturday against Coker by scores of 5-2 and 11-7.

LMU would strike first in game one, never looking back. A Katy Pozzuto sacrifice fly would score Reese Vivrette to get on the board in the bottom of the first. RBI from Vivrette and Anna Kate Reichter would extend the lead in the second to 3-0. The fourth inning would include Nicole Couvertiere with a solo home run to make it back-to-back games for her with a homer. Madison Henry would round out scoring with an RBI single of her own. Coker's attempt to mount a comeback would be stopped short, giving Margot van Eijl the complete game victory on the mound.

Scoring would only increase for the Railsplitters in game two. Coker would get on the board with a run in the top of the first but Sterre den Duijn and Madison Henry would have an answer to put up two in the bottom half of the frame. Another run from the Cobras would tie the game up, but not for long as Vivrette would knock in Couvertiere. Not long after, Gracie Palmer would score on a passed ball followed by an RBI double via Katie Tuggle and a triple from Henry to burst the lead open in the second inning. Coker would try to answer, but couldn't compete with the likes of Palmer, Vivrette, and den Duijn who would add more RBI on their stat lines. Victoria Conley receives the win on the mound.

The pair of wins improves LMU to 20-16 (9-5) on the season. They'll return to action on Wednesday, April 3rd, for a 1 PM/3 PM doubleheader against Lenoir Rhyne.
