Women's lacrosse falls to #16 Wingate snapping three game streak

Wingate, NC - The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team traveled to Wingate, NC on Saturday, putting its three game winning streak on the line against the nation's 16th-ranked team. Entering the game, the Railsplitters were 5-7 overall with a 4-2 mark in conference play and were vying for footing within the conference. Wingate entered the game undefeated in conference action, holding the top spot in the conference with a 9-3 overall record and an unblemished 7-0 mark in conference play.

The Bulldogs tallied the game's first goal in four minutes of action on a man-advantage. Lincoln Memorial responded with a goal from Josie Tinnerello, assisted by Amber Kirkpatrick, tying the game at 1-1 less than a minute later. However, Wingate added three straight goals to take a 4-1 lead. The Railsplitters countered with a goal before the end of the first period as Jaedyn Ryba tallied her first of the game with an assist from Kirkpatrick, cutting the deficit to two goals, 4-2. The Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the second quarter, taking a 7-2 lead. The Railsplitters answered back with back-to-back goals. Tinnerello tallied her second of the game with an assist from Halle Hensley before Kirkpatrick netted her first goal of the game with an assist from Tinnerello, bringing the score to 7-4. Wingate added two more goals before the halftime break, extending its lead to 9-4.

Lincoln Memorial failed to score for the remainder of the contest as Wingate added eight more goals across the third and fourth quarters, seeing the Bulldogs take a 17-4 victory, remaining unblemished in conference play. With the loss, the Railsplitters' three game winning streak was brought to an end. Lincoln Memorial moved to 5-8 on the season with a 4-3 mark in conference play.

The Railsplitters will be back in action on April 6th on the road at UVA-Wise.
