Hartsville, SC - After falling in a hard-fought game against #3 Limestone last weekend, the Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team was back in action on the road for its first conference road game of the young season. Having played back-to-back top 20 teams in Emmanuel and Limestone, the Railsplitters were looking to avoid a three game skid. Lincoln Memorial was 3-4 ahead of the contest with an 0-1 mark in conference play. The Cobras were 1-3 ahead of Friday's game, with an 0-1 mark in conference play.
The Railsplitters scored two goals in the first :50-seconds of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
Michael Rogers tallied the game's first goal just :21-seconds in.
Gavin Reid followed with a goal just :50-seconds into the game, assisted by
Jenson Jones. Coker then tallied five unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead with 13:42 left in the second quarter. The Railsplitters responded with five in a row of their own, regaining the lead, 7-5.
Daniel Pearl scored on a man-advantage on the assist from
Rhodes Conroy.
Kevin Jendrasik then added a goal with an assist from Jones, his second assist of the game to that point.
Gavin Reid rattled off the next two goals with assist from Pearl and
Cole Morris. Reid's second goal tied the game at 5-5 at the half.
His third goal came just :30-seconds into the second half, giving him the hat trick, and the Railsplitters a 6-5 lead. Conroy then scored unassisted to give Lincoln Memorial a 7-5 lead. The Cobras scored the next two goals, tying the game at 7-7. The lead would change hands three more times throughout the remainder of the game, and be tied five more times, as the teams traded goals. Pearl gave the Railsplitters an 8-7 lead with an assist from
Francis O'Hara with 7:31 remaining in the third. After Coker tied the game at 8-8, O'Hara gave Lincoln Memorial another lead, 9-8, unassisted. The Cobras added the next two goals to take their first lead since early in the game, 10-9. Rogers knotted the game at 10-10 with 11:23 remaining.Just one minute later, Coker regained the lead, 11-10. Conroy knotted the game at 11-11 with 9:06 remaining in the game. However, the Cobras tallied the game's final goal with 7:33 left in the game, taking a slim 12-11 victory, seeing Lincoln Memorial move to 3-5 on the season with an 0-2 mark in conference play.
Gavin Reid led Lincoln Memorial with three goals. He was followed by
Daniel Pearl,
Michael Rogers, and
Rhodes Conroy with two goals each. Pearl and Conroy each added an assist as well.
Kevin Jendrasik and
Francis O'Hara each added a goal as well. O'Hara and
Cole Morris each had one assist.
