Crestview Hills, KY - The top-seeded Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team took to the Bluegrass State for the opening round of the IVA Tournament, squaring off against a familiar foe in the Tusculum Pioneers. The fourth-seeded Pioneers fell to the Railsplitters in the final game of the regular season 3-0 prior to Friday's tournament match. It was a feeling of deja vu for Tusculum, seeing Lincoln Memorial sweep the match in three successive sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20.
Matthew Gentry led the Railsplitters with 11 kills, hitting an extremely impressive 85%. He was followed by
Justin Sharfenaker with nine kills,
Axel van Baars and
Eliel Salva Torres with seven kills,
Griffin Wheatley with six kills, and
Kohl Kutsch with two kills. Kutsch added 32 assists and five digs. Gentry and van Baars added two assists each. Sharfenaker, Wheatley, and
Tate Colebaugh each added an assist. Wheatley added two service aces with Sharfenaker adding one. Wheatley also led the team in digs with eight, followed by Kutsch, Sharfenaker with four, van Baars, Colebaugh, and
Jakub Wiaderny with three, Salva Torres with two, and Gentry with one. Â
