Harrogate, TN- The Lincoln Memorial Track and Field team is gearing up for an exhilarating two-day showdown at the Catamount Classic, set to kick off tomorrow and culminate on Saturday. With a roster packed with talent across various disciplines, anticipation is high for standout performances and thrilling competitions.
Athletes to watch
The men's team will showcase their prowess in a range of events, with notable athletes vying for victory. Luis Borkey and Clayon Cooper will lead the charge in the 800m race, aiming to make their mark on the track before joining forces in the 4x400m relay. Jaxson Branham and Connor Chandler will take on the grueling 3k steeplechase, demonstrating their endurance and determination.
Meanwhile, Marig Engelbrecht, Cash Coggin and Sam Fulton are set to compete in the 1500m event, while Christopher Daniels and Simon Fillers will test their strengths in the men's 5000m race.
The field events will see Hank Fisher demonstrating his strength in shot put, hammer throw, and discus, alongside Avery Hatfield and Alex Yager showcasing their skills in hammer and shot put. Yager will also be competing in the Javelin event.
Nile McLymont and Hunter Preston will take on the challenge of the 400m hurdles before teaming up in the 4x400m relay, while Jack Hill and Vincent Quilici will sprint for glory in the 200m dash.
On the women's side, Kylee Alvis and Cate Turner will lead the charge in the field events, with Alvis competing in shot put, javelin, and discus, and Turner showcasing her strength in shot put and hammer throw. Mataylin Goins and Maggie Sanderson will showcase their speed and agility in the hurdles and jumps, while Emily McPherson aims for her marks in the high jump.
Theresa Brosthaus, Abbey Mohan, and Harper Russell will represent the Lady Railsplitters in the women's 800m. Lidija Djokic will showcase in the 400m hurdles, while Destiny Gibbs will compete in the 400m dash before they both up in the 4x400m relay.
In the distance events, Aubrey Bachtel Weslyn McIntosh, Grace Rose, Gillian Strealy, and Olivia Truelove will tackle the 5000m race, while Katilee Croft and Reaghan Curde will perform in the 1500m event.
Nevaeh Kerns will look to make her mark in the hammer and discus throws, while Sterling Webb will showcase her versatility in the long jump, hurdles, and relay events. Sara Winegar will add to the team's strength in the 100m hurdles.
