Men's and women's track and field turns in solid performance at Tryon Last Chance meet

Mill Spring, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial men's and women's track and field programs delivered a strong collective performance at the Tryon Last Chance meet on February 20. Competing in the Friday college and open sessions, the Railsplitters secured multiple top finishes and personal bests across both distance and field events. The women distance runners set a high standard early in the day, with Weslyn McIntosh claiming first place in the 1-mile run with a personal record time of 5:14.63. She was followed closely by teammate Greta Chizzali, who secured a second place finish with a time of 5:16.53.

In the vertical and horizontal jumps, the Lincoln Memorial women continued to find success. Emily McPherson took the top spot in the high jump, clearing a season-best height of 4 feet 10 1/4 inches. In the triple jump, Reilly Vierdag earned a sixth place finish with a leap of 33 feet 9 1/4 inches, while Jewel Gamedah represented the Railsplitters in the long jump with a mark of 12 feet 11 1/2 inches.

The throwing events proved to be a major highlight for the squad, led by a dominant showing from Ashley Parrish. Parrish claimed first place in the weight throw with a toss of 51 feet 10 inches and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the shot put at 39 feet 10 1/2 inches. Kylee Alvis also performed well in the circle, taking fourth in the weight throw at 44 feet 1 1/4 inches and seventh in the shot put at 33 feet 8 inches. Rounding out the women throwers, Olivia Edenfield recorded marks of 34 feet 2 inches in the weight throw and 27 feet 5 1/4 inches in the shot put, while Madeline Dalton posted 33 feet 6 inches in the weight throw and 24 feet 1 1/2 inches in the shot put.

On the men side, Jackson Clonce led the Railsplitters with two top six finishes. Clonce earned third place in the shot put with a personal record throw of 45 feet 9 1/4 inches and took sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 45 feet 10 1/2 inches. Asher Hatfield added to the team effort with a season best in the shot put at 28 feet 3/4 inches and a weight throw mark of 33 feet 1/2 inches.
