Harrogate, TN - Following a game one victory over the Newberry Wolves on Friday, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team completed the sweep of the Wolves on Saturday, claiming both games of the double header. The Railsplitters honored their eight seniors prior to the first game on Saturday with players' parents throwing out a ceremonial first pitch, player accolades being honored, and players being gifted with framed jerseys.
The Railsplitters made it known from the jump that they meant business on Saturday. After Newberry took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Lincoln Memorial answered back with five runs in the bottom of the inning, and it was only the beginning of the offense onslaught that would ensue.
Kasten Harvey cracked a two run shot in the bottom of the inning to uncork the scoring for Lincoln Memorial, driving in
Collin Goda.
Ryan Kurth connected on a two RBI double to drive in
Cameron Bowen and
Carson Boles, giving the Railsplitters a 4-1 lead.
Chris Hall then added a triple to drive in Kurth for the final run of the first inning, seeing Lincoln Memorial take a 5-1 lead into the second inning. Things didn't get much better for Newberry. Unable to produce a run in the second inning, the Wolves saw the Railsplitters begin to pull away on the heels of a four run second inning. In the bottom of the second, Boles reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Goda to cross the plate. In the ensuing at-bat, Bowen ripped a three run shot over the center field wall, driving in Harvey and Boles, extending the lead to 9-4. Again the Railsplitters held the Wolves off the board, adding another run in the bottom of the third inning. After hitting a triple earlier in the game, Hall got the extra bit of power he needed, ripping a solo shot over the center field wall to extend the Lincoln Memorial lead to 10-1 after three innings. The game became a pitching and fielding battle over the next few innings until Newberry scored its third run of the game to chip away at the lead. However, in the bottom of the seventh, the Railsplitters added four more runs, imposing a run-rule on the Wolves, 14-3. Bowen doubled to left field, driving in Boles. Kurth stepped to the plate with two runners on base, and delivered a three run shot to end the game, driving in
Deatric Alexander Jr. and Bowen.
Eli Edds got the nod on the bump, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing four hits, three runs, and three earned runs with four walks and six strikeouts.Â

However, the Wolves answered with a three-run second inning to tie the game 3-3. The Railsplitters regained control of the scoreboard in the fourth inning, tallying three more runs to take a 6-3 lead. Hall singled to left to bring in Kurth. Goda doubled to center to drive in
Mitch Petzelt. Harvey then drove in Goda with a double to left center. The Wolves added their final run in the top of the fifth, cutting the deficit to 6-4.
