Harrogate, TN- LMU hosted Newberry on Saturday in softball doubleheader action. The two teams split the games, Newberry taking the first 1-6 and LMU snagging the second by a score of 8-1.Â
Newberry would strike first in game one, scoring all six of their runs in the first four innings. LMU would struggle to get the bats going, only managing three hits in the contest.
Hannah McMeen would finally earn good contact in the bottom of the fifth to hit a sacrifice fly to score
Madison Henry. The deficit would be a little too much, however, for the Splitters to complete the comeback, falling to the Wolves in game one.
The second game would be a completely different story. LMU would get on the board first,
Katy Pozzuto and and
Jordann Reagan both with doubles to cross three runs in the bottom of the first.
Anna Kate Reichter would make a contribution of her own in the bottom of the second via RBI single to score
Gracie Palmer. Despite a run from Newberry, LMU would shut the door on the game in the bottom of the sixth. It would be Pozzuto and Reagan yet again, both singling to score four more, leaving the game at a final score of 8-1.
Victoria Conley earns the complete game victory on the mound, improving her record to 8-4 on season.
LMU moves to 23-19 (10-8) on the season and returns to action on Wednesday, April 10th, on the road to take on Anderson for a 1 PM/3 PM doubleheader.Â
