Cleveland, TN- Two games in a day? No problem for LMU Women's Volleyball. Lincoln Memorial would down both opponents on the day in convincing fashion.
Arkansas Tech would be the first test of the day. The first set would be close, the two teams staying within reach of one another until an ATU attack error would begin a five point streak for the Lady Splitters, the team eventually taking the set 25-18. The same sequence of events would happen in the second, giving LMU enough of a push to take the second set 25-23. Arkansas Tech would find some momentum in the third set, finding themselves in a set point situation until two consecutive LMU points would tie the third back up at 25-25. The team would find two more to close out the game and get the win.
Lincoln Memorial would come out swinging against Georgia College and State University, taking an early lead and never looking back in the set, winning it 25-11. The second set would begin and end similarly, Lincoln Memorial taking the frame 25-15. GCSUÂ would turn it around in the third, gaining momentum from behind to force a back-and-forth battle before taking the set 25-27. LMU would regain their fire, beginning the fourth on a scoring run and storming back to get the second win of the day.Â
Kristen Moehring would be the kill leader on the day, averaging almost five a set.
Agata Bogdanska also would put on an offensive performance, posting an attack percentage over .400 on the day. Setter
Lauren Pickett's 10 assists per set would be key in both wins, adding another contribution of six service aces in game two. Defensively,
Lauren Jacob would tally over 30 digs between the two games and
Katherine Bedel adding eight total blocks to the day.
Lincoln Memorial moves to 5-1 on the season and returns to the court tomorrow, September 14th, for the second installment of the Flame Invitational against Eckerd at 11:30 AM and Lee University at 7 PM.
