Harrogate, TN - The Lady Railsplitters played their first conference game against #3 Lenoir-Rhyne University, ending with a 1-1 draw. This is the first tie in series history. With the tie, their series record is 9-13-1.
Both teams each had opportunities to score in the first half as LMU had 6 shots and Lenoir-Rhyne had 11. Despite the multiple shot attempts from each team, the score at the end of the first half was 0-0.
The game remained scoreless in the second half until the 76th minute where
Victoria Filsner scored a goal off of her own corner kick, unassisted. The score remained 1-0 with LMU in the lead until the 80th minute when Nicole Auger scored a header off of an Evan O'Leary assist.
Lincoln Memorial was able to keep the Bears from scoring again until the final whistle to end the game 1-1.
Bente Latenstein had an impressive game, having 12 saves on the day.
With the tie, they move to 1-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in SAC conference play.
Their next game will be on Wednesday, September 18 vs the University of North Georgia at home. The game will be played at LMU Lacrosse Complex at 1:00 pm.
