Harrogate, TN - LMU Women's Soccer starts their season with a 1-0 win against Southern Wesleyan University. With the home opener win, they improve their series record 1-0, outscoring the Warriors 1-0.
The Lady Railsplitters started the scoring attempts early, as
Ellie Snyder shot the ball inside the eighteen, but was saved by the SWU goalkeeper. In the 31st minute,
Alicia Bevins rolls the ball to
Samantha Hulstaert off of a free kick and Hulstart scores, making the score 1-0.
In the second half,
Ryan Branson, Bevins, and Snyder were able to make shot attempts but all were saved by the SWU goalkeeper.
Bente Latenstein was also able to make some key saves to ensure the Warriors didn't tie up the match. LMU was able to keep the lead to secure their home opener win.
The Lady Railsplitters' defensive efforts were strong as Southern Wesleyan only had eight shots, four of those being on goal. With the win, LMU improves to 1-0 on the season.
Their next match will be in Columbus, Ga. as they will face Columbus State University at 12:00 pm.
