Harrogate, TN - Three days after a decisive win on the road at Carson-Newman, the 14th-ranked Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team was back at home on Saturday playing host to 21st-ranked Coker for a top 25 match up. Coker came into the game averaging 109.3 points-per-game, good for second in the nation. The Railsplitters held the Cobras to 27 points below their season average, while
exploding offensively for over 100 points, securing a 109-82 victory.
For the second straight game,
Elyjah Freeman erupted for 35 points, following his 36 point performance against Carson-Newman on Wednesday. He also tallied 12 rebounds to secure his second consecutive double-double.
Wes Enis also erupted for 28 points, connecting on
six three point baskets, shooting 9-of-18 from the field. In just 16 minutes of game time, Coker transfer
Mahmoud Bangura "Mo" tallied 18 points. The trio combined for 81 points, while Coker had 82 as a team.
Thomas Allard chipped in nine points,
Jordan Walters added eight points, Car Thiam added five points,
Connor Jordan added four points, and
EJ Smith added two points to round out scoring for the Railsplitters.
Lincoln Memorial's smothering defense limited Coker's offense to a season-low 82 points, while the Railsplitters' offense scored a season high 109. Lincoln Memorial made quick work of the Coker press, allowing for a 58-28 advantage in the paint and a 30-4 advantage in fast break situations. The Railsplitters forced the Cobras into 17 turnovers which led to 23 points from turnovers. Lincoln Memorial also took care of the ball, tallying only seven turnovers and shared the ball exceptionally well once again with 21 assists on 38 made baskets.
