Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team defeat the Quincy Hawks 3-1 (29-27, 21-25, 23-25, 21-25) to extent their winning to 5 games.
Set one was a back-and-forth battle, including 15 ties and 3 lead changes, but a 3-0 run and a couple of 2-0 runs from Quincy game them the win for set 1. In the second set, Quincy was ahead up until point 14, and a 3-0 run from LMU ultimately put them ahead enough to take set 2. In the third set, Lincoln Memorial tallied a 0.175 attack percentage to give them set 3. Set 4 also went to LMU because of Quincy's 7 errors and low attack percentage of 0.056 to give the Railsplitters the win 3-1.
Matthew Gentry was the game-leader in kills with 16 for a 0.429 attack percentage.
John Luers led the team in assists with 46. Gentry and
Ethan Morgan each both posted 5 blocks, with Gentry getting 1 solo block and 4 block assists and Morgan posting 5 block assists. Luers and
Tate Colebaugh both tallied double-figures in digs, with Luers registering 12 and Colebaugh recording 11.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial had the higher attack percentage with 0.156, held Quincy to 25 errors, posted 5 service aces, and 50 digs.
With the win, the Railsplitters improve to 5-0 on the season.
For their next match, they will travel to Cambridge, MA to face Harvard University on January 31
st at 7 pm.
