Lady Railsplitters Dominate Mars Hill At Home

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters defeat the Mars Hill Lions 92-69 Wednesday evening for their 9th overall win of the season and their 8th conference win.

Lincoln Memorial dominated the first quarter, limiting Mars Hill to only score 6 points and LMU scoring 21 points. The Lady Railsplitters shot 72.7% from the field in the first. In the second, the Lions increased their momentum, but Lincoln Memorial was able to top them in scoring, with LMU scoring 25 points and Mars Hill scoring 24. The score going into halftime was 46-30 with Lincoln Memorial in the lead. In the first half, the Lady Railsplitters went 64.3% from the field, 50% from behind the arch, and 83.3% from the free-throw line.

The third quarter was the highest scoring quarter for LMU, as the Lady Railsplitters kept their offensive strides moving as they posted 28 points in the third compared to the Lion's 21. The fourth quarter was the only quarter that LMU didn't outscore Mars Hill, as both teams registered 18 points. The final score was 92-69 with Lincoln Memorial taking the win.

Alexa Smiddy was the game leader in scoring with 23 points, along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Lexi Patty also had a phenomenal night as she posted a career-high 21 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Patty went 8/8 from the field and 4/4 from the three- Another highlight was Dominique Rodriguez, who registered a season-high 15 points, going 5/7 from the field and 4/5 from the free-throw line, and also had a team-high 6 assists. Kamil Collier nearly posted a double-double, scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Caroline Sikkink recorded 8 points and 5 rebounds, and Keiara Anderson registered 5 points and 3 rebounds. Asia Barr and Matty Tanner finished out the scoring with Barr posting 4 points and 5 assists and Tanner recording 2 points and 4 rebounds.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 58.6% from the field, 10/18 from behind the arch, and 82.4% from the free-throw line. LMU had 15 second chance points, 44 points in the paint, and 10 points off of fast breaks. Lincoln Memorial also outrebounded Mars Hill 39-29 and had 21 assists, a season-high for the team.

Tonight's game against Mars Hill has been the highest scoring game the team has had all season with nearly 100 points. Lincoln Memorial posted the best field goal percentage of the season, 58.6%, as well as the best three-point percentage of the season, 55.6%.

With the win, the Lady Railsplitters improve to 9-10 overall and 8-8 in the SAC.

Their next game will be on February 1st, as they travel to Anderson, SC to face Anderson at 2 pm.
