Hickory, NC - The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters defeat the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne 63-50 Saturday afternoon for their fourth conference win of the season.
In the first quarter, LMU outscores the Bears 18-14, with
Alexa Smiddy anda
Kamil Collier each contributing 8 points each, and as a team going 2-4 from the three. In the second, Lenoir-Rhyne was outscored once again by the Lady Railsplitters, with Lincoln Memorial scoring 15 and Lenoir-Rhyne scoring 12. Going into halftime, LMU leads 33-16, with Lincoln Memorial shooting 48.3% from the field and 50% from behind the arch.
In the third, Lincoln Memorial scored 15 points compared to Lenoir-Rhyne's 11, with the Lady Railsplitters also out rebounding the Bears 12-8. In the fourth, Lincoln Memorial continued to extend their lead 15-13, giving the Lady Railsplitters the win 63-50.
Alexa Smiddy led in scoring on the afternoon with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. With her 23 points today, Smiddy has accomplished scoring 1,000 career points.
Caroline Sikkink led the team in rebounds with 8 along with 9 points, and
Asia Barr and
Matty Tanner each had a team-high 7 rebounds with Tanner also registering 4 points. Collier posted 19 points and 5 rebounds,
Jamyah Winter recorded 7 points, and
Lexi Patty scored 2.
Lincoln Memorial went 44.4% from the field, 41.7% from the three, and 62.5% from the free-throw line. The Lady Railsplitters out rebounded the Bears 38-29, recorded 20 assists, and scored 34 points from the paint.
With the win, the Lady Railsplitters improve to 5-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play. For their next game, they will travel to Jefferson City, TN to face Carson-Newman on Wednesday January 8th, with tip-off at 5:30 pm.
