Jefferson City, TN - The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters defeat #16 Carson-Newman Eagles for their second consecutive conference win and fifth overall conference win of the season.
In the first quarter, Lincoln Memorial outscored the Eagles 22-19. The strong offensive efforts continued throughout the second quarter for the Lady Railsplitters, as they scored double the points that Carson-Newman did, 18-9. The score going into halftime was 40-28 with LMU in the lead.
In the first half, Lincoln Memorial had a higher percentage made from the field, as LMU was 43% and Carson-Newman was only 35% from the field. The Lady Railsplitters were also 100% from the free throw line, making all 14 free throws in the first half. Lincoln Memorial also out rebounded the Eagles in the first, 24-11.
In the third, Carson-Newman started seeing the ball in the back of the net, resulting in 23 points compared to LMU's 13, making the score tied 53-53 going into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was back and forth, as there was 4 lead changes throughout the quarter. Despite each team taking the lead multiple times throughout the quarter, LMU's 18 points and made free throws from
Alexa Smiddy and
Caroline Sikkink within the last 15 seconds in the game ultimately gave LMU the win 71-67.
Kamil Collier had a double-double on the night, registering team-high 22 points as well as team-high 14 rebounds.
Alexa Smiddy also had an impressive night, scoring 21 points and posting 5 rebounds and 8 assists.
Caroline Sikkink also scored double-digits as she recorded 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Matty Tanner registered 7 points and 9 rebounds, and
Asia Barr posted 3 points and 3 rebounds. To round up the scoring,

Jamyah Winter each scored 2 points.
Lincoln Memorial went 40% from the field and 16% from behind the arch. The Lady Railsplitters made 19/20 free-throws, and out rebounded the Eagles 45-28.
With the win, Lincoln Memorial breaks Carson-Newman's 20-game home win streak and improve to 6-7 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
For their next game, they will play host to Coker on Saturday, January 11. Tip off is set for 2 pm in Tex Turner Arena.
