Women’s Soccer Ends In A Tie With Tusculum

Greeneville, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team draws to the Tusculum Pioneers Wednesday evening.

The Railsplitters began the scoring quickly as Viktoria Filsner took a shot on frame in the 2nd minute, saved by the Pioneer goalkeeper.

Filsner fired off another shot on goal in the 7th minute, followed by an Ellie Snyder shot in the 8th, both saved.

Lincoln Memorial continued to push pressure offensively, with Stafford recording a on goal shot in the 11th minute, and Filsner with her third shot of the afternoon in the 15th minute, both saved.

Tusulum's first scoring attempt of the match came in the 20th minute, with goalkeeper Emma Cooke earning her first save of the day.

For the next ten minutes, both teams had scoring opportunities but were either off target or blocked.

The next attempt came in the 31st minute by Tusculum, with Cooke recording the save.

Ava Garrett got back-to-back on target shots, as one came in the 31st minute and one in the 36th minute, and they were both saved. With that being the last scoring opportunity for either team, both teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

Six minutes into the second half, Raven Wellington produced the first shot on frame for the Railsplitters, which was saved.  Cooke earned herself another save with a Tusculum shot in the 54th minute.

Tusculum had an off target shot, and LMU's Jade Brown registered her first shot of the match in the 70th minute, saved.

Three minutes later, the Pioneers fired a shot on frame, which was saved by Cooke.

Both teams had several scoring opportunities throughout the next ten minutes, but they were all off target. The next on frame shot cane from Stafford in the 83rd minute, saved, followed by a Pioneer shot in the same minute, saved by Cooke.

With the next seven minutes went by without a shot, the match ended with a draw 0-0.

Filsner, Brown, and Stafford all led in shots with three, with Filsner leading the team in shots on goal with three. Cooke played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied five saves.

As a team, LMU recorded 18 shots, with ten on frame, six saves, and ten corner kicks.

With the tie, the Railsplitters move to 4-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in SAC play, and the Pioneers move to 4-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.

Lincoln Memorial's next match will be on the road on Saturday as they travel to Wingate, NC to face Wingate at 3:30 pm.
