Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team drew to the Carson-Newman Eagles 0-0.
For first 11 minutes of the match, no shot attempts on goal were made by either team. Two shots were taken in the 12
th minute, one blocked and one saved by
Emma Cooke.
Viktoria Filsner followed with a shot on frame three minutes later , saved by the Eagle keeper.
Multiple off target shots were taken from both teams, but the next shot on goal came from
Donna van der Zalm in the 28
th minute, saved.
Both goalkeepers did not get much action in the first half as that was the last scoring opportunity that was within the posts. The score remained scoreless at halftime 0-0.
The Eagles started pushing quickly as they took their first shot of the half in the 48
th minute, saved by Cooke.
Lincoln Memorial had several off-target shots from the 48
th minute to the 62
nd minute where
Astrid Palmblad took the first shot on frame for the Railsplitters.
Both teams battled back and forth as they traveled from end to end. Cooke recorded another save on the evening in the 79
th minute by a C-N shot.
Filsner responded as she fired off a shot in the 86
th minute, saved by the Eagle goalkeeper.
The Railsplitters had some last-minute attempts to take the lead, as Filsner and Palmblad took on target shots in the 88
th and 89
th minute, respectively, but they were both saved.
The final score was scoreless at 0-0.
Filsner led the team in shots and shots on goal with three each, and Cooke recorded three saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial outshot C-N 15-5, with six of those shots being on goal. LMU also posted three saves and five corner kicks.
With the draw, LMU moves to 5-4-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the SAC, and Carson-Newman moves to 6-3-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the SAC.
Their next match will be Senior Day as they host Mars Hill on Saturday, October 18
th at 4 pm.
