WVB Secures Big Win over Newberry

Harrogate, TN – LMU women's volleyball collected a statement home win on Saturday, rallying past Newberry in four sets, 19–25, 25–15, 25–20, 25–19, inside Mary Mars Gym. The victory lifts LMU to 9–13 overall and 5–8 in South Atlantic Conference play.

After dropping the opener, LMU seized control with a dominant second set behind a 6-ace frame and .276 hitting. The Women's Volleyball side kept the pressure on the serve and at the net, finishing the night with 12 service aces, 12 total blocks, and a .226 attack percentage.

Sarah Robbins led the attack and the block, posting 11 kills on .529 hitting and a career-type night at the net with 8 total blocks (6 solo). Megan Maier matched the team-high with 11 kills, added 9 digs, and served 2 aces. Georgia Dobson sparked the surge with 9 kills at a .364 clip and 2 aces, while Kaytlin Johnson added 8 kills and 3 blocks.

The backcourt and setting tandem were steady throughout: Lauren Jacob anchored the defense with a match-high 17 digs and delivered 5 aces, and setters Lauren Pickett (19 assists, 11 digs, 2 aces) and Carley Raleigh (14 assists, 9 digs, 1 ace) steered an offense that produced 48 kills on 44 assists. Team totals: 48 kills, 60 digs, 12 aces, 12 blocks. 

The Railsplitters will be back in Mary Mars Gym on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. to host Mars Hill for Costume Night.
