Salisbury, NC – Lincoln Memorial fell in straight sets to Catawba on Saturday afternoon, 20–25, 12–25, 20–25, inside Goodman Gymnasium. With the loss, the Railsplitters move to 7–9 overall and 3–4 in South Atlantic Conference play.
The first set featured four ties and multiple lead changes, but Catawba pulled away late to take it 25–20. The Indians carried momentum into the second, using a .265 hitting percentage and three service aces to build an early lead and cruise to a 25–12 win. LMU fought hard in the third, tying the frame nine times, but Catawba's steady attack secured the 25–20 clincher.
Megan Maier paced the Railsplitters with seven kills and 10 digs while hitting .500. Finley Sparks added seven kills and five digs, and Georgia Dobson finished with four kills, five digs, and two block assists. Setter Lauren Pickett led with 18 assists, one ace, and seven digs. As a team, LMU finished with 29 kills, 38 digs, and five blocks.
The Railsplitters return home for their next match on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. when they host Carson–Newman inside Mary Mars Gymnasium.
