Railsplitters Fall to Carson-Newman

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial fell in four sets to Carson-Newman on Tuesday night, 23–25, 23–25, 25–16, 17–25, inside Mary Mars Gymnasium on Camo Night. With the loss, the Railsplitters drop to 7–10 overall and 3–5 in South Atlantic Conference play.

The first two sets were tightly contested, with LMU battling through 10 ties in the opener before Carson-Newman pulled ahead late for a 25–23 win. The Eagles edged another close frame in the second, 25–23, to take a 2–0 lead. The Railsplitters responded in the third, using a .256 hitting percentage and strong net play to roll to a 25–16 victory. Carson-Newman, however, closed out the match in the fourth, pulling away midway through the set for a 25–17 win.

Finley Sparks led LMU with 16 kills, while Megan Maier added 13 kills and ten digs. Sarah Robbins contributed eight kills and four blocks, and Laney Inman tallied five kills. At setter, Lauren Pickett recorded 21 assists and Carley Raleigh added 18, while libero Riley Lockhart anchored the defense with 18 digs. As a team, LMU finished with 47 kills, 59 digs, and five total blocks.

The Railsplitters return to action on Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. when they host Anderson University (S.C.) inside Mary Mars Gymnasium for Twin Day.
