Women's Basketball Start Season With A Win Over The Tornado

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball started out the 2025-2026 season with a win over the King Tornado Friday night 92-45.

In the first quarter, King took the first lead with 0-4 but then LMU erupted with a 13-point run to make the score 17-6 with three minutes remaining. With each team able to get a couple more points on the board, the end of the first ended with a 23-11 Lady Railsplitter lead. Lexi Patty led the quarter, as she nearly registered double digits with nine points, and as a team the Lady Railsplitters were over 60% from both the field and beyond the arch.

LMU began the second with eight points before the Tornado would tally their first points of the quarter. Kamil Collier led the team this quarter with a team leading seven points. Lincoln Memorial's defense was strong in the second, as they limited King to only nine points, extending the lead 39-20 at halftime.

In the third, the scoring went back-and-forth, with the Tornado scoring  17 points in the third to shorten LMU's lead. Despite that, Lincoln Memorial outscored King 25-17 and the score at the end of the quarter was 64-37.

The Lady Railsplitters was highly efficient in the fourth, going 8/13 from beyond the arch and 8 different players adding points to the board. This quarter was also Lincoln Memorial's highest scoring quarter with 28 and King's lowest with eight, and Kallie Housley going 2/2 from the three. With that, LMU took the win over King 45-92.

Lexi Patty registered a new career high as she led the team with 22 points, along with seven rebounds. Collier followed with a double-double, scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Ajalon Gillard and Asia Barr also tallied double digits, as Gillard recorded 14 points and Barr with 10. Three different Lady Railsplitters followed with six points: Alexa Smiddy, Keiara Anderson, and Housley. Smiddy also dished out five assists. Maleiya Hill was after with four points but led the team in assists with six. Federica Lagana and Rachel Early rounded out the scoring with three each.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 44.6% from the field, 42.9% from beyond the arch, and 78.6% from the free-throw line. 32 points were scored from inside the paint, 32 were off of forced turnovers, 13 points were second chance points, 17 points were off fast breaks, and 30 points were off the bench.

With the win, LMU start out the season with a win with a 1-0 record and King drops to an overall record of 0-1.

The Lady Railsplitters have a short turnaround as they play in less than 24 hours, as they face Converse in Day 2 of the Conference Crossover tomorrow, November 15th at 3 pm .
