WVB Falls at Carson-Newman

Jeferson City, TN - Women's Volleyball fell in straight sets at Carson-Newman on Tuesday night, 25–19, 25–17, 25–23, at Holt Fieldhouse in Jefferson City, Tenn. The Railsplitters battled late in the third to extend the match, but couldn't quite push it to a fourth.

Carson-Newman's offense was efficient all evening, hitting .358 with 46 kills and 10 team blocks, while the Railsplitters finished with 31 kills on .101 hitting. The hosts controlled the first two frames, but the Railsplitters answered with their best stretch in the third, grabbing an early lead and rallying to 23 before the Eagles closed it out.

Alexia McGee paced the attack with 10 kills, Georgia Dobson added eight kills and three aces to reach a team-best 12 points. Setter Lauren Pickett handed out 15 assists with two aces, while Carley Raleigh dished 11 assists and served an ace. Libero Lauren Jacob contributed a team-high eight digs and two aces as the Railsplitters totaled 10 aces on the night to keep pressure on the Eagles' serve-receive.

Women's Volleyball returns home for the final time this season on Friday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. against Coker inside Mary Mars Gymnasium for Senior Night and a White Out.
