Women's Basketball Erupts In Win Over Mars Hill

Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball erupted as they put up triple digits in their 109-69 win over the Mars Hill Lions Wednesday evening. This would be the first time that the team has scored over 100 points since December of 2023.

The Lady Railsplitters came out firing in the first quarter, with eight different players adding to the scoreboard, outscoring the Lions 27-9. LMU forced Mars Hill to make seven turnovers, which in return allowed Lincoln Memorial to score 11 points. With Kamil Collier leading the team in scoring with six points, the Lady Railsplitters go into the second with an 18 point lead 27-9.

The second quarter was much like the first, as LMU added 27 points, but allowed the Lions to put 13 points on the board. Despite that, Lincoln Memorial went above 40% in all three categories and doubled Mars Hill's rebounding with 14, giving LMU the advantage going into the second half 54-22.

The third would be the highest scoring quarter for LMU, as they put up 28 points, with Mars Hill adding 21. The Lady Railsplitters were highly efficient in the field, making 11 out of 16 in the field for nearly 70%. With Kallie Housley leading the quarter with eight points, LMU entered the final quarter with the 82-43 lead.

Mars Hill would have the highest scoring quarter in the fourth with 26, but were still outscored by Lincoln Memorial, as they added 27. The Lady Railsplitters had an even more effective fourth, as they went 10/13 from the field and 5/6 from the three, with Aubree Laney and Hosley going 2/2 from beyond the arch. Despite the last quarter scoring attempt by the Lions, the Lady Railsplitters take the win 109-69.

Collier and Housley led the team in scoring with 19 points each, with Collier securing seven rebounds and three blocks and Housley with four rebounds and going 5/7 from the three. Lexi Patty followed with 15 points and three steals, and Asia Barr also scored double digits with 12 points and three steals. Laney added nine points, while Keiara Anderson contributed seven. Sariya Henry recorded seven points along with team-high eight rebounds, with Ajalon Gillard following with six. Alexa Smiddy tallied team-high six assists along with adding five points, and Ayden Smiddy registered four points. Rachel Early and Maleiya Hill rounded out the scoring with three points each.

As a team, the Lady Railsplitters went 60% from the field, 51% from beyond the arch, and 9/14 from the charity stripe.

LMU secured 38 rebounds, scored 33 points off of Mars Hill turnovers, eight second chance points, 52 points from the bench, 50 points in the paint, and 16 fast break points.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play, and Mars Hill drops to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the SAC.
Lincoln Memorial will have their second home game of the week on Sunday, December 13th as they host Wingate at 1 pm in Tex Turner Arena.
