Women's Basketball's Win Streak Continues With Victory Over Emory & Henry

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team continues their win streak as they defeat the Emory & Henry Wasps Wednesday evening 85-61.

The Lady Railsplitters came out early with the pressure, as they forced the Wasps to make eight turnovers, while also outscoring E&H 17-14. With Kamil Collier leading the team in the first with seven points, LMU carried the lead going into the second.

Lincoln Memorial came out even more aggressive in the second quarter, as they went above 50% in all three categories, including 8/15 from the field, 1/2 from the three, and 4/6 from the charity stripe. Collier's team-leading ten points this quarter helped LMU outscore Emory & Henry 21-11, which led them going into halftime with the 38-25 lead.

The third was the Lady Railsplitters highest scoring quarter as they added 27 points to the scoreboard and the Wasps only scoring 14. Lexi Patty scored nearly half of LMU's points in the third with 13 points, as she went 5/7 from the field and 100% from the free throw line. LMU remained in the lead going into the fourth with the 65-39 advantage.

The final frame was the most evenly matched quarter of the game in terms of scoring, as there was only a two point difference with LMU scoring 20 and E&H adding 22. Despite the high scoring quarter from the Wasps and the late attempts to catch up, Lincoln Memorial took home the win 85-61.

Both Collier and Patty led the team in scoring on the night with 21 points each, with Collier recording her fifth double double of the season with 15 rebounds and Patty securing eight. Kallie Housley also contributed with double digit points with 12. Alexa Smiddy and Sariya Henry followed with nine points each, along with Smiddy recording team high eight assists. Keiara Anderson was behind them with seven points, then Asia Barr with three. Maleiya Hill and Ajalon Gillard rounded out the scoring for LMU with two and one point, respectively.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial 43.1% from the field, 33.3% from the three, and 14/16 from the free throw line.

LMU recorded 36 rebounds and scored 21 points off of E&H turnovers, 14 second chance points, 24 bench points, 42 points in the paint, and six fast break points.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play, while Emory & Henry drops to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the SAC.

The team will play one more game before being off for the holiday season, as they will travel to Anderson, SC to face Anderson on Saturday, December 20th at 2 pm.
