Women's Basketball Finishes Out 2025 With A Win Against UNC Pembroke

Pembroke, NC – The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team ends the calendar year with a five-game win streak as they defeat the UNC Pembroke Braves Wednesday afternoon 66-54. 

The first quarter was low scoring to start out as it was 4-4 until three minutes remaining, when UNCP took the lead and kept it until the end of the quarter 12-8, along with the Braves out rebounding the Lady Railsplitters 15-6. 

Lincoln Memorial picked up the momentum in the second, as LMU outscored UNC Pembroke 17-9 as they went 7/16 from the field. With Lexi Patty leading the quarter with seven points, LMU entered the second half with the 25-21 advantage.

The Lady Railsplitters continued to push offensively in the third, as they added 22 points to the scoreboard compared to UNCP's 15. LMU was highly efficient in scoring, as they shot 60% from the field and 100% from the charity stripe, highlighted by Kamil Collier leading with eight points. Lincoln Memorial went into the fourth quarter with the 36-47 lead. 

The fourth quarter was the closest of the game, as LMU put up 19 points and UNC Pembroke added 18, with LMU going above 50% in all shooting categories. With the final quarter being led by Alexa Smiddy with nine points, Lincoln Memorial came out with the 54-66 win. 

Kamil Collier led the team in scoring and rebounds with 18 points and 12 rebounds, securing her seventh double-double of the season. Three other Lady Railsplitters contributed with double digit scoring: Patty with 15 points, Smiddy with 13 points, and Asia Barr with 12. Sariya Henry and Maleiya Hill rounded out the scoring for LMU with four points each, whole Keiara Anderson was on the boards with six rebounds. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 25/59 from the field, 25% from the three-point line, and 11/17 from the free throw line. 

LMU secured 29 rebounds, scored 36 points in the paint, 13 points off of UNCP turnovers, five fast break points, and eight second chance points. 

With the win, the Lady Railsplitters improve to 10-1 overall and the Braves drop to 2-8 overall. 

Their next game will be at home on Wednesday, January 7th against Tusculum at 5:30 pm in Tex Turner Arena.
