Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball extends their win streak to 6 games with a 77-42 win over the Tusculum Pioneers Wednesday evening.
The first quarter was a battle between the two teams, as there were five lead changes throughout the first ten minutes. With the quarter being led by
Kamil Collier and
Alexa Smiddy with six points each, the Lady Railsplitters go into the second quarter with the two-point lead 19-17.
Quarter two was a lower scoring quarter for both teams, as LMU limited the Pioneers to score only seven points while Lincoln Memorial added 13. With Collier securing over half of the team's rebounds with seven in the second, Lincoln Memorial had the advantage going into halftime 32-24.
LMU increased their momentum in the third quarter, as they put 18 points on the board compared to TU's 13.
Lexi Patty led this quarter with seven points, which contributed to the 50-37 Lincoln Memorial lead going into the finial quarter.
The fourth was the Lady Railsplitters' highest scoring quarter with 22 and the Pioneers' lowest with seven. LMU also recorded their highest shooting percentage from the field this quarter with 60%. Lincoln Memorial ended the game with the 72-44 win.
Collier and Smiddy both led the team in scoring with 19 points each, with Smiddy going 5/7 from beyond the arch. Collier also led in rebounds with 13. Patty also contributed double-digits with 16 points and five rebounds.
Keiara Anderson added eight points and five rebounds, followed by
Kallie Housley and
Rachel Early with three points and one rebound each.
Ajalon Gillard and
Asia Barr rounded out the scoring with two points each.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 42.9% from the field, 29% from the three, and 9/11 from the free throw line.
The Lady Railsplitters secured 36 rebounds, scored 22 second chance points, 34 points from the paint, nine fast break points, and 21 points off of Pioneer turnovers.
With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while the Pioneers drop to 1-12 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
LMU's next match up will be on the road as they travel to Newberry, SC to face Newberry on Saturday, January 10
th at 2 pm.
