Women's Lacrosse Hits Program Records Once Again As They Defeat North Greenville

Tigersville, SC – The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team hits program records once again as they defeat the Trailblazers of North Greenville Saturday afternoon 14-6.

Lincoln Memorial starts the scoring and extends their lead by 5 all within 10 minutes as they score the first 5 goals of the match. Amber Kirkpatrick scores her first goal of the match as a man-up goal with 12:24 remaining in the first quarter, with the assist coming from Breanna Booth.  The next 4 goals come from Josie Tinnerello as she scores her first and second goal with 10:53 and 10:09 remaining, both unassisted. She adds her third goal with 6:38 remaining, with Booth earning her second assist of the match. Tinnerello scores her last goal of the quarter and LMU's last goal of the quarter with 5:23 remaining, with McKenzie Cates tallying her first assist of the match. NGU would finish out the scoring in the first with goals coming from Keen with 4:48 remaining and Keller with 0:01 remaining. The score at the end of the first would be 5-2 with the Railsplitters in the lead.

Lincoln Memorial would once again begin the scoring in the second quarter, with the Booth earning her first goal of the match, with Tinnerello tallying her first assist of the match with 13:47 left in the second. Ryan Smith would then record her first match goal as a free-position goal with 8:43 remaining. NGU's Keen would score their third goal of the match with 3:58 remaining. Not even 30 seconds later, Jaiden Jaynes would record her first goal of the match, unassisted. The Trailblazers would finish out the scoring in the second, with the goals coming from Rider (Straub) with 2:33 remaining and Keen with 1:22 remaining. LMU would have the lead at the half with the score being 8-5.

The third quarter would all come form Josie Tinnerello, with all goals in the third coming from her. Tinnerello would score her fifth goal of the match not even a minute into the third quarter with 14:24 remaining, with Jaynes tallying the assist. Tinnerello's last two goals of the quarter would come in the last three minutes of the quarter, as she scored her sixth goal of the match with 2:14 remaining, unassisted, and her seventh goal of the match at 1:59 remaining, with Kirkpatrick registering her first assist of the day.

In the fourth, the Tinnerello/Kirkpatrick duo would link up once again, with Tinnerello scoring her eighth goal of the match with 7:42 remaining, with Kirkpatrick earning her second assist. North Greenville's only goal of the quarter would come from Harris with 5:33 remaining. For the second time this quarter, Tinnerello would tally her ninth goal of the match, with Kirkpatrick posting her third assist of the match. The last goal of the match would come from Madison Proud as she scores a man-up goal with 0:46 remaining, with Tinnerello recording her second assist of the day. The final score would be 14-6, with Lincoln Memorial tallying their third win of the season and the beginning of a winning streak.

Tinnerello would rack up the goals with 9 goals on the day, tying the program record for the number of goals in a single game by a player, with also recording 2 assists. Kirkpatrick would tally 1 goal and team-high 3 assists, Booth would register 1 goal and 2 assists, and Jaynes would record 1 goal and 1 assist. Proud and Smith would also add one goal each on the match. Samantha Billingsley would lead in ground balls with 2, and Jalee Davis would be the team-leader in draw controls with 4. Keegan Gillman would also record 10 saves for a .625 save percentage.

As a team, LMU posted 14 goals, 9 assists, 32 shots, with 22 being on goal, 6 free-position shots, 18 ground balls, 22/25 successful clears, and 8 draw controls.

In this match, Tinnerello would tie the program record for number of goals scored in a single game by a player, and head coach Alyssa Shaver would break the record for number of wins as a head coach, as she now holds that record with 33 wins.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to 3-1 and now has a 2-game winning streak.

Their next match will be at home on Thursday, February 27th as they play host to the University of Tampa at 5 pm at LMU Lacrosse Complex.
