Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team defeats the Fort Valley State University Wildcats in 3 sets (14-25, 19-25, 16-25) for their 11
th win of the season.
The Railsplitters dominated the first set 14-25 , as they rallied two 5-0 runs and had their highest attack percentage of the night in the first 0.526. The second set was more of a battle with 6 ties and 4 lead changes, but a 8-0 run from LMU late in the set gave Lincoln Memorial set two19-25. The Railsplitters had the lead the entirety of set 3, giving them the set win 16-25 and the match win 0-3.
Matthew Gentry and
Johan Negron led the team in kills on the night with 9 each, and
Eliel Salva Torres posting the highest attack percentage with an 0.833 attack percentage for 5 kills and 0 errors.
John Luers once again led the night in kills with 30. Gentry and Negron also both led the team in service aces with 4 each. Defensively, Negron and Salva Torres both led the team in blocks with 3, with Negron tallying 3 block assists and Salva Torres recording 2 block assists and 1 solo block, the only solo block from LMU the entire match.
Tate Colebaugh was the team-leader in digs with 9.
As a team, LMU tallied a game-high 0.526 attack percentage in the first set, 0.3 in the second, and 0.44 in the third for a match attack percentage of 0.405. They also recorded 54.5 points, 38 kills, 11 service aces, 5 blocks, 33 assists, and 28 digs.
With the win, the Railsplitters improve to 11-1 on the season.
For their next match, Lincoln Memorial will travel to Princeton, NJ to face Princeton University on Saturday, March 1
st at 4 pm.
