Women's Basketball Falls to Coker

Hartsville, SC – The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team fall to the Coker Cobras Saturday afternoon 53-62.

The first quarter the Lady Railsplitters did phenomenal defensively, as they only allowed the Cobras to score 6 points while LMU posted 19. The roles reversed in the second quarter, with Lincoln Memorial adding 4 points and Coker scoring double-digits with 20. The score going into halftime was 21-26 with the Cobras in the lead. In the first half, Lincoln Memorial went 8/21 from the field, 2/6 from the three, and 3/6 from the free-throw line.

The third quarter was a closet battle, with both teams recording double-digits as the Lady Railsplitters posted 17 points and the Cobras only scoring 14. The fourth quarter the Cobras reversed the roles once again as they outscored LMU, as Coker scored 22 points and Lincoln Memorial posted 15. The strong second quarter from the Cobras gave Coker the win 53-62.

Kamil Collier posted her 9th double-double of the season, as she scored a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds. Alexa Smiddy also scored double-digits, recording 15 points and 5 rebounds. Caroline Sikkink added 8 points and 3 rebounds, and Asia Barr recorded 6 points and 4 assists. Lexi Patty finished out the scoring with 5 points and 4 rebounds.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial went 44.7% from the field, 6/15 from behind the arch, and 50% from the charity stripe. LMU had 2 second chance points, 26 points in the paint, and 3 points off of Coker turnovers.

With the loss, Lincoln Memorial moves to 11-14 overall and 10-12 in SAC play.

They will begin their final week of the regular season at home, as they face rival Carson-Newman on Wednesday, February 26th at 5:30 pm at home in Tex Turner Arena.
